The BS/MS program allows students to earn both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in five years instead of the standard six. This pathway introduces graduate-level coursework and research opportunities, facilitating a smoother progression to PhD studies. For students entering teaching or industry directly, the master's degree often leads to substantially higher starting salaries. By allowing certain introductory graduate courses to count toward senior chemistry requirements, this integrated program enables students to complete both degrees with just 143 credits - fewer than pursuing them separately. The program mandates two summer research terms and requires departmental approval for admission.
