Delve into the diverse experiences, perspectives, stories, contributions, and thoughts of women. Examine how societal gender norms influence both women's and men's lives. As a Women's and Gender Studies major, you'll focus on understanding human experiences through a gendered lens, treating them as active subjects of study rather than passive objects. The program offers an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating courses from criminal justice, history, literature, philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology/anthropology, all taught by WGS faculty or affiliated professors. You'll analyze gender's role in modern society, uncover historical influences on women's current position, and investigate strategies for promoting universal equality. A Women's and Gender Studies degree opens doors to careers in activism, corporate sectors, media, teaching, social services, personnel management, reporting, legal fields, advertising, nonprofits, government, and editorial work. Additionally, it provides excellent preparation for advanced studies across multiple academic fields.
