This program fosters comprehension of political systems and operations at local, state, national, and international levels. Graduates emerge as analytically skilled, civically engaged individuals. UMass Dartmouth's curriculum explores government's influence on citizens and citizens' impact on governance through scientific, philosophical, and practical lenses, analyzing both domestic and global political landscapes. Students can specialize in one of three tracks: International Politics, International Security Studies, or Pre-Law. The program emphasizes developing essential workplace competencies like writing, communication, advocacy, and comparative analysis, mandating internship completion. Career pathways include government roles at all levels, plus opportunities in administration, business, diplomacy, law, social services, urban development, and more. This major also serves as excellent preparation for law school or advanced studies across various academic and professional fields.
