The Music Education program cultivates highly skilled educators sought after in New England and nationwide. Our curriculum adopts an international perspective on music instruction, inspiring students to discover global musical traditions and incorporate varied cultural influences into their teaching. You'll gain comprehensive preparation as both a performer (instrumental or vocal) and a music educator for K-12 settings. The program focuses on building and directing musical ensembles, innovative teaching methodologies, the historical context of music education, and contemporary digital teaching resources. Hands-on classroom training progresses to a full semester of student teaching. This program qualifies graduates for Massachusetts' Initial Teaching License and holds accreditation from the state's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
