The Crime & Justice Studies (CJS) program integrates criminology, criminal justice, and justice studies into a cohesive academic discipline. Combining social sciences with humanities, CJS focuses on examining the historical development, policies, political aspects, and operational methods of the criminal justice system. This interdisciplinary program serves undergraduates aiming for careers in law enforcement, judicial systems, correctional facilities, probation services, social work, youth programs, policy development, research, and community-based organizations. A mandatory senior-year internship allows students to investigate career paths, acquire practical experience, build professional connections, and enhance job-related competencies. Those earning a BA in Crime & Justice Studies will: cultivate holistic viewpoints regarding the diverse and occasionally contradictory demands across criminal justice institutions and affiliated agencies. participate in inter-agency discussions during their academic training before entering professional environments. acquire the ability to recognize and evaluate systemic, organizational, and global forms of violence. develop expertise and methodologies for addressing and rectifying inequities. equip themselves to make meaningful contributions to community betterment and societal progress. Alumni have established careers in policing, judicial administration, rehabilitation services, government, legal practice, social welfare, youth advocacy, NGOs, and grassroots initiatives. An increasing number of CJS alumni pursue advanced degrees in legal studies, master's programs, and diverse doctoral fields.
