Pioneer the future of nursing practice.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program at UMass Boston equips experienced nurses with the expertise, capabilities, and decision-making skills needed to shape the future of clinical care and healthcare systems. Our DNP curriculum develops advanced practice nurses for leadership positions in healthcare administration, policy formulation, and cross-disciplinary teamwork.
UMass Boston offers both BS-to-DNP and MS-to-DNP pathways. The BS-to-DNP track serves BSN-prepared nurses, while the MS-to-DNP option is designed for master's-prepared advanced practice nurses.
In UMass Boston's DNP program, you'll concentrate on:
Enhancing healthcare quality
Championing health policy initiatives locally and nationally
Implementing theoretical frameworks to examine healthcare inequities
Translating research into improved patient results
Leveraging health informatics to enhance care delivery, reduce expenses, and boost efficiency
Expanding healthcare availability for all populations, with emphasis on underserved communities throughout life stages
Professional Opportunities
As a nurse educator, you could instruct students, develop training programs, and shape curricula. Healthcare organizations and policymakers may seek your specialized knowledge as a consultant. Alternatively, contribute to evidence-based guidelines through clinical research. These represent just some of the career paths available with a DNP degree.
