The research-focused MSLT PhD program allows students to concentrate in mathematics education, science education, or learning technologies. Participants may also create a tailored program combining multiple specializations within MSLT or across the College of Education (for instance, concentrating on postsecondary mathematics education). MSLT doctoral graduates will achieve mastery in their chosen field, demonstrating teaching excellence, research capability, and scholarly work that involves thorough analysis of historical and contemporary theories, participation in novel investigations, and active contributions to advancing mathematics education, science education, and learning technologies.
The Mathematics, Science, & Learning Technologies (MSLT) doctoral concentration is a research-intensive program leading to a PhD degree. Students focus their studies on mathematics education, science education, or learning technologies, with the option to develop an interdisciplinary program spanning multiple specializations (such as higher education mathematics instruction). MSLT PhD graduates will exhibit exceptional expertise in their discipline, along with teaching proficiency, research skills, and academic contributions that demonstrate rigorous evaluation of existing scholarship, pursuit of innovative research, and meaningful engagement with current developments in mathematics education, science education, and educational technology.
