Doctoral students in children, family, and education programs establish a strong foundation in the theoretical, historical, and sociocultural aspects of learning and human development. Their dissertation studies explore diverse academic pursuits, such as family dynamics, childhood learning processes, pedagogical interactions, educational technology applications, moral development, families with special needs children, and early childhood interventions. Beyond academic requirements, PhD candidates gain hands-on experience through fieldwork supervision and teaching assistant roles in early childhood and primary education training initiatives.

Applicants to the program must have a master's degree in a related area (e.g., Education, Psychology, Communication Disorders) and teaching experience in a school setting. Many graduates of the program go on to faculty positions as in colleges and universities or leadership positions in preschool education.
