The Middle Eastern studies program offers an intensive, cross-disciplinary approach that provides students with significant flexibility while exploring the Middle East and North Africa through both historical and modern lenses. Learners can select from diverse course options covering Arabic and Hebrew languages, the region's history and archaeology, as well as Islamic culture, art, legal systems, and political thought. The curriculum requires a minimum of two years' study in a regional language, typically Arabic or Hebrew. We strongly advise students to pursue overseas study opportunities to deepen their engagement with Middle Eastern culture, language, and social structures, with popular destinations including Jordan, Morocco, Oman, the UAE, and Lebanon. Graduates develop essential skills for careers demanding cultural awareness, analytical thinking, compelling communication, in-depth research, and clear writing. Many alumni pursue fields directly connected to Middle Eastern studies, including public policy, government roles, financial sectors, intelligence work, and legal professions. The program also lays a strong foundation for advanced academic study leading to scholarly careers.
