Linguistics explores human language, examining its structure, communicative functions, and psychological aspects. Over the past three decades, this field has evolved dramatically, with our faculty leading these advancements. Undergraduate students gain a prime chance to discover linguistics' essence, its contributions to understanding language's fundamental nature, and its connections to disciplines like communication studies, computer science, AI, philosophy, psychology, human development, and speech therapy. Standing apart, linguistics bridges three major university research areas: humanities, natural sciences/mathematics, and social/behavioral sciences, making it particularly appealing to students with interdisciplinary interests. While multilingualism isn't required for linguists, foreign language knowledge proves beneficial, as research often focuses on specific languages or language families. Mathematical skills also prove valuable for the theoretical aspects of linguistic study.
