The BA program in history focuses on versatility and comprehensive learning. Students gain a sophisticated, well-rounded perspective of global events, equipping them to address modern issues with informed perspectives. Our history majors collaborate with distinguished professors whose expertise covers virtually every region and era, from ancient times to today. Learners can choose from established focus areas like colonialism, imperialism, nationalism; science, technology, and environment; war and revolution; or cultural and intellectual history—or craft their own specialized concentration. Historical studies equip students with essential research, critical thinking, and communication abilities valuable across professions. These competencies include purposeful reading, integrating diverse sources, performing thoughtful evaluations, and clearly expressing concepts verbally and in writing. Alumni enter diverse sectors such as legal practice, media, public administration, international relations, commerce, environmental stewardship, and education.
