The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science features adaptable degree requirements, enabling students to fulfill their program through a diverse range of CS courses. The Bachelor of Arts takes an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating selected courses from other UMass departments alongside student-chosen electives, highlighting our field's wide-ranging applications.
The BA program provides greater flexibility for students to explore interdisciplinary studies via a four-course external concentration. This option is ideal for those pursuing a double major or seeking to combine Computer Science with another academic discipline. The College provides both Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree programs, equipping graduates for dynamic careers in computing or advanced computer science studies. Today, computing plays an essential role across numerous domains including biology, communications, education, environmental science, healthcare, law, arts, finance, manufacturing, transportation, entertainment, agriculture, energy, sports, and government. CS majors enjoy access to cutting-edge electives and join a vibrant community engaged in pioneering research. Students are particularly encouraged to participate in the College's research initiatives, especially during their senior year.
