Reliability Engineering is a multidisciplinary initiative within the Mechanical Engineering Department. The curriculum and research focus stem from understanding how engineering decisions influence complex systems from initial design through their entire operational lifespan. Students can concentrate in various specializations including: Failure Analysis (Root-Cause Investigation, Probability-Based Risk Evaluation, Systemic Failures), Operational Systems (Human-Machine Interfaces, Personnel Performance Reliability, Software Dependability), Production Quality (Manufacturing Process Optimization, Advanced Production Techniques), or Component Durability (Microelectronic Systems and Material Sciences), along with Electronic Component Reliability.
Open to students who have a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physics, or mathematics and obtained a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from accredited programs.
