The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides advanced degree programs culminating in Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy qualifications. Students can also opt for a Master of Engineering degree via the Professional Master's Program administered by the Office of Advanced Engineering Education. As one of engineering's most consistently popular fields, our graduate curriculum equips students to deepen their grasp of core principles while exposing them to cutting-edge technologies such as: robotics (encompassing medical applications), artificial intelligence, sustainable energy systems, optical fiber technology, and 3D printing. Our program emphasizes developing practical competencies that empower graduates to excel in both government and industry roles.
Open to qualified students holding a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Admission may also be granted to students with degrees from other areas of engineering, mathematics, and physical sciences. In some cases, students may be required to take undergraduate courses to fill gaps in their background.
