Students pursuing the Master of Science in Environmental Health Sciences at the Maryland Institute for Applied Environmental Health (MIAEH), part of the School of Public Health, will gain foundational expertise in environmental health, epidemiology, and biostatistics. The curriculum also includes hands-on laboratory experience, ethics training, and seminar participation. This graduate program offers specialized training focused on investigating and addressing critical public health challenges linked to environmental factors. The M.S. curriculum emphasizes environmental health and exposure sciences, epidemiological methods, and statistical analysis, complemented by practical research experience that culminates in a thesis. A key program emphasis involves studying public health impacts on vulnerable or marginalized communities, particularly those facing environmental inequities due to socioeconomic or racial disparities.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
