The CFT Master's program aims to develop skilled, proficient therapists for clinical work and progress in marriage and family therapy. It focuses on cultivating professionals with exceptional therapeutic abilities, ethical standards, inquisitive minds, and a genuine dedication to serving diverse family backgrounds. The M.S. in Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) offers the academic curriculum and hands-on clinical experience usually needed for Marriage and Family Therapy licensure across various states. This program holds accreditation from the AAMFT's Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education. Students can choose between a 48-credit non-thesis track or a 51-credit thesis option, with the entire program, including the two-year internship, typically spanning two years. The Family Science Department equips learners to assess, understand, and enhance life quality through practical research, education, counseling, social services, policy evaluation, and advocacy. Its interdisciplinary framework highlights personal, relational, and societal transformation, operating within a systemic or ecological model that integrates family science, maternal/child health, therapy, policy studies, behavioral science, and social services. Alumni pursue opportunities in government, non-profits, and private organizations, including academic roles, research, policy development, and leadership positions in social services and public health initiatives.
