The AMSC graduate program in Applied Mathematics & Statistics, and Scientific Computation provides interdisciplinary education culminating in Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees, with specializations in applied mathematics, statistics, and computational science. Additionally, it provides a Scientific Computation Certificate for doctoral candidates in other university programs. Faculty members collaborate across multiple university departments. Application areas span physical, chemical, biological, and social sciences along with engineering disciplines. The program benefits from strong partnerships with the Mathematics Department (MATH), CSCAMM research center, and IPST institute. Students access cutting-edge computational courses, advanced visualization tools, and high-performance networking resources.
The applicants are encouraged to take the GRE subject examination in either mathematics or another scientific topic. Applicants should have at least a "B" average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and should have completed an undergraduate program of study that includes a strong emphasis on rigorous mathematics, preferably through the level of advanced calculus and linear algebra.
