The Master of Public Policy (MPP) is a two-year professional program that equips students with essential skills, knowledge, and professional connections to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions. The MPP program structure includes two key elements: a 27-credit core curriculum covering governance fundamentals, quantitative methods, and policy implementation, alongside elective courses for specialized study. Students can focus their electives on one or two concentrations or explore broader policy topics. Available specializations range from environmental and energy policy to international development, security, leadership, nonprofit management, public finance, social policy, health, education, or a custom-designed focus. Graduation requires completing 48 credits. Develop expertise in policy analysis and governance while acquiring hands-on experience to address critical societal challenges.
The Energy Policy concentration explores existing and emerging energy systems and their relationship with policy frameworks and societal needs. This specialization focuses on four foundational pillars: economic stability, energy security, environmental sustainability, and universal energy access. Our interdisciplinary approach examines multiple aspects, including energy science and technology, societal impacts, innovation processes, government's role in technological advancement, long-term energy projections, modeling techniques, energy access in developing regions, sustainable energy initiatives, geopolitical considerations, efficiency measures, renewable resources, transportation systems, Maryland's energy regulations, and nuclear power policy.
