The Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Machine Learning equips students with advanced technical training in machine learning while honing their ability to solve complex data processing challenges, particularly with large datasets (Big Data). Through the curriculum, learners establish strong fundamentals in mathematics, statistics, and programming while delving into specialized areas like deep learning, optimization, big data analytics, and signal/image processing. This 30-credit, non-thesis program features intensive coursework tailored to develop expertise for roles in our data-driven world. The comprehensive 10-course graduate curriculum prepares participants for careers as information engineers, data scientists, or data mining specialists. The MPS in Machine Learning emphasizes developing models and algorithms that learn from data to make predictions and decisions. Graduates will be prepared to implement these methodologies across diverse fields including finance, healthcare, telecommunications, biotechnology, cybersecurity, engineering, social media, and IT solutions.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
