The Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education (HESI) program focuses on enhancing education's transformative power in society. Our faculty and researchers examine key aspects of educational systems, covering university operations, student growth in higher education, and K-18 policies alongside global nonformal education initiatives. With a strong focus on equity, inclusion, policy reform, and systemic transformation, HESI cultivates scholars, practitioners, and visionary leaders working across academic institutions, global organizations, and policy forums. This collaborative program generates theoretical frameworks, conducts impactful research, and bridges theory with practice while connecting with students, educators, and professionals to drive educational progress. HESI provides three specialization tracks: Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy. Applicants must select only one concentration when applying. Prospective students should thoroughly explore each specialization through the College of Education website (http://www.education.umd.edu/), which details program options, faculty expertise, and contact details, serving as a vital guide during the application process.
