The Human Development graduate programs aim to advance fundamental understanding of human growth and learning while applying these insights across diverse environments. Coursework and research explore broad developmental stages including infancy, childhood, and adolescence. Faculty specialize in numerous areas such as motivation in learning, brain development, early childhood policy, language acquisition, reading skills, social interactions, educational relationships, ethical growth, personality traits, family dynamics, bias studies, and cultural influences on development. These programs offer Master of Education, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The research-focused M.A. (thesis-based) and Ph.D. curricula cultivate students' scientific expertise in human development and their capacity to conduct innovative research. The non-thesis M.Ed. and M.A. programs focus on applying developmental science to practical scenarios, with particular emphasis on K-12 educational settings.
At the master’s level, a minimum GPA of 3.5 is required by the College of Education.
