The combined HIST/HISP master's program embodies the interconnected nature of professional practice that often involves experts from both disciplines. This dual-degree option enables students to broaden their career prospects across academic and non-academic sectors - a growing advantage in competitive job markets that prize multidisciplinary expertise. The HiHP curriculum enables students to finish both degrees in just seven semesters. Both programs promote elective coursework in related disciplines, and the dual-degree structure lets students apply these elective credits toward fulfilling requirements for both degrees simultaneously. Graduates will emerge with a versatile skillset and experience spanning both historic preservation and history professional networks.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
