The University of Maryland's English M.A. and PhD program fosters academic collaboration across multiple disciplines. Our graduate curriculum extends beyond traditional coursework to include lectures, seminars, and scholarly gatherings that reflect the cross-disciplinary interests of both students and faculty. Participants can earn credits for interdisciplinary studies in numerous subject areas, with certification options in Critical Theory, Digital Arts and Humanities, Jewish Studies, and Women's Studies. MA candidates may specialize in either literature or rhetoric and composition. The MA program typically requires four to five semesters for full-time students, while working professionals have the flexibility to complete requirements through part-time enrollment.
