The Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program provides an interdisciplinary approach to graduate education, culminating in Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Participants will: gain comprehensive knowledge of women's, gender, and sexuality studies, understand gender, race, and sexuality as analytical frameworks, examine how gender functions within power structures while considering its intersection with other social categories like race, ethnicity, religion, class, sexuality, ability, geography, and age, build expertise in feminist, queer, and critical race theories along with research methodologies and teaching approaches that address global perspectives, and develop specialized knowledge in a chosen focus area.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
