The Biophysics Program unites faculty from biochemistry, biology, chemistry, engineering, and physics who investigate problems bridging the physical and life sciences. With one of the country's largest physics departments, Maryland Physics delves into over 30 specialized areas, fostering collaborative research between professors and students on groundbreaking physics topics. Combining demanding coursework with our strategic Washington D.C. setting, this dynamic research environment creates an exceptional learning opportunity. Our undergraduate students gain admission to top-tier graduate programs and attract attention from employers, while our graduate alumni pursue rewarding positions across government agencies, private sector companies, and academic institutions.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
