As a key component of the School of Public Health, the Department of Kinesiology provides graduate programs for both Master of Arts (with thesis and non-thesis tracks) and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The department focuses on three primary research domains: exercise physiology, cognitive motor neuroscience, and physical cultural studies. Students work closely with faculty to create tailored programs that align with their academic interests and faculty specializations. The curriculum fosters a deep appreciation for Kinesiology's interdisciplinary nature and its connection to public health. Hands-on learning occurs through classes, research participation, departmental events, seminar discussions, and professional conference attendance. The PhD program specializes in: Cognitive Motor Neuroscience: Investigating motor control, biomechanics, computational approaches, sport psychology, and exercise psychophysiology Exercise Physiology: Exploring genetic, molecular, cellular, and applied research in muscular, metabolic, and cardiovascular functions Physical Cultural Studies: Examining physical culture through interdisciplinary lenses including sociology, history, marketing, and media studies of sport and physical activity
