The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering provides academic programs for earning a Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering. Each program mandates a written thesis and an oral defense. Faculty expertise spans diverse research areas including aerosol science, biochemical processes, computational modeling, fluid dynamics, fuel cell development, metabolic systems, nanotechnology, polymer science, reaction engineering, process optimization, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena. The department operates a networked computing system with dedicated research labs and a PC workstation facility. Core analytical resources such as electron microscopes, X-ray diffractometers, photoelectron spectrometers, and NMR instruments are managed across multiple specialized laboratories.
Open to qualified students holding the Bachelor of Science degree. Admission may be granted to students with degrees in other engineering and science areas from accredited programs, and it may be necessary in some cases to require courses to establish an undergraduate Chemical Engineering background.
