The Social Studies Education/Geography program prepares students for certification to teach geography-focused social studies in grades 7-12. By completing content area coursework alongside professional education classes and field experiences, students earn a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with dual majors in Social Studies Education and Geography. The University of Maryland's College of Education offers research-driven, practice-based programs addressing diverse educational challenges. Its departments - Counseling, Higher Education and Special Education; Human Development and Quantitative Methodology; and Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership - feature distinguished faculty, staff, and students dedicated to equity and social justice.
