The Environmental Science and Policy (ENSP) program is an interdisciplinary initiative that cultivates skilled professionals ready to tackle modern environmental issues. Jointly supported by three colleges, ENSP offers a distinctive undergraduate curriculum where students first build fundamental knowledge in science and policy before specializing in diverse fields spanning biology, geology, anthropology, and political science. This cross-disciplinary approach is widely recognized as effective for navigating complex global issues like climate change, sustainable food systems, urban planning, and eco-friendly innovations. The program emphasizes blending natural and social sciences to inform sound environmental policies. By studying across multiple disciplines, students learn to connect concepts from various viewpoints and discover fresh insights in environmental studies. This educational model enhances graduates' career prospects by equipping them to work across specialties and connect scientific research with policy development.
New ENSP students initially enroll as undeclared majors in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, where they investigate concentration options, career paths, internship opportunities, and campus involvement. Academic advisors guide course selection to align with students' interests while maintaining flexibility in their academic journey.
