The Psychology Undergraduate Training Program aims to equip students with essential academic and professional competencies for their post-graduation journey. The Psychology Department provides multiple specialized tracks that enhance students' research exposure and create more avenues for engagement within the psychological field. Numerous opportunities exist for connecting with fellow psychology majors - we encourage you to investigate student organizations and reach out directly for details about activities and participation. Upon completing their studies and experiential learning components, successful students will achieve these outcomes: 1. Foundational psychology knowledge. Explain core concepts, principles, and overarching themes in psychology. Show capacity to incorporate multicultural perspectives in psychological research, theory, application, and community service. Discuss practical implementations of psychological studies and theories. Recognize contributions from historically marginalized scholars to psychological theory, research, and practice. Examine psychology's historical involvement in systemic oppression while identifying ways the discipline can promote fairness and justice. 2. Research skills and analytical thinking. Employ scientific methods to comprehend and analyze psychological phenomena. Demonstrate creative, integrative approaches to problem-solving. Evaluate, design, execute, and assess psychological studies while considering cultural and sociopolitical factors. 3. Ethical awareness and civic engagement. Implement ethical guidelines when conducting and reviewing psychological work. Utilize psychological frameworks to address local, national, and global challenges. Apply psychological concepts to benefit and enhance communities.
High school students and students with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school should apply as freshman applicants.
