The Bachelor of Arts in dance provides students with a comprehensive grounding in fundamental aspects of the field while exploring interdisciplinary connections. The program cultivates technical proficiency, artistic individuality, and teamwork skills through its structured curriculum. Initial years focus on building core competencies, while later years allow specialization in selected concentrations. Modern dance technique and creative exploration form the program's foundation, enabling students to develop both practical abilities and a holistic understanding of dance's relationship to other arts. Advanced coursework emphasizes hands-on, thematic projects that bridge disciplines and cultures, examining dance through performance, choreography, and theoretical lenses. Students can concentrate in performance/choreography, production, or dance education during their upper-level studies.
High school students and students with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school should apply as freshman applicants.
