The Department of Communication provides students with the choice between Communication Studies or specialized tracks including Health and Science Communication, Media and Digital Communication, Political Communication and Public Advocacy, or Public Relations. Each specialization has distinct course requirements, and careful planning of your course sequence is essential for successfully completing the COMM major. The program structure includes six components: Foundations of Communication, Research Methods, Communication and Society (featuring two courses: Leadership and Social Change plus Diversity and Inclusion), Theory and Principles, two Applied courses, and Electives. This major explores the evolution, mechanisms, and impacts of human communication.
The curriculum investigates how strategic message management fosters relationships with key audiences to drive organizational achievement, influence public perception, and advance corporate social initiatives.
