The Chinese studies program equips students with essential language skills and cultural knowledge for pursuing careers connected to East Asia across diverse sectors including academia, creative industries, commerce, public service, global affairs, agriculture, and communications. Learners can opt to combine their Chinese studies with complementary fields like commerce, political science, economics, or media studies through a dual degree option. Participants may also choose to join the immersive Language House Living Learning Program or take part in overseas study opportunities. The curriculum prepares graduates for professional paths in East Asian-focused roles spanning education, cultural institutions, corporate environments, policy-making, diplomacy, agricultural sectors, and news media. Students have the flexibility to pursue concurrent majors pairing Chinese with disciplines such as business administration, global relations, economic theory, or reporting.
High school students and students with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school should apply as freshman applicants.
