UMBC's Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering provides Master's and Doctoral programs in Computer Engineering. This section details the Computer Engineering graduate curriculum, key research fields within Electrical and Computer Engineering, and application guidelines. The department boasts 33 permanent faculty members, 15 research professors, four dedicated lecturers, and more than 20 affiliated and part-time instructors. Active research focuses span AI, graphics and visualization, computer networks, database systems, computational theory, signal processing, microelectronics, photonics, and optical communications. With roughly 1,100 undergraduates enrolled across computer science and computer engineering majors, the department also serves about 600 graduate students pursuing degrees in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and cybersecurity.
