The Graphic Design program explores the challenging questions that captivate both beginners and professionals in the dynamic field of visual communication. The coursework fosters disciplined thinking alongside investigations spanning traditional, transitional, and emerging media formats. The rise of innovative word-image combinations creates opportunities for thoughtful expression grounded in curiosity, dedication, and the drive to analyze and innovate. Faculty support intellectual, intuitive, and perceptual problem-solving methods, all unified by the core principle that clear communication—rather than stylistic trends—remains the ultimate objective. While the Graphic Design program consistently recognizes technology's evolving role in education, it examines fundamental creative sources through focused development in three key areas: mark-making, reading, and writing. These observational foundations serve as cornerstones for a designer's growth, collectively offering students insight into our intellectual and visual landscape. Design history studies, combined with training in typography, word-image relationships, symbols, semiotics, and various digital/analog production techniques, establish the groundwork for meaningful research and creative output.
