This versatile program allows students to explore various aspects of theater, cultivating expertise in both technical production and performance. Those enrolled in the Theatre, BA, Theatre Studies Track engage in traditional theater productions while also creating original works, taking on roles as directors, dramaturges, designers, performers, and playwrights within a collaborative environment. The curriculum offers intensive technical production training using cutting-edge scenic, audio, and lighting equipment. This degree is particularly well-suited for students pursuing double majors who want to pair their theater studies with other academic pursuits, such as the Arts Entrepreneurship Minor. At UMBC, we view theater as a constantly evolving art that both responds to and shapes new perspectives on ethical, political, and artistic issues.
