UMBC's B.A. in Chemistry Education aims to deliver a four-year program that equips students with both a strong chemistry foundation and the required coursework for secondary-level chemistry teaching certification. The program emphasizes producing well-rounded chemists who are qualified for various technical roles beyond teaching. Additionally, it broadens graduates' scientific knowledge by mandating courses in other science fields and including a history of science component.
