Asian Studies is a multidisciplinary field exploring Asia's diverse societies, traditions, governance, historical developments, linguistic systems, and artistic expressions. At UMBC, students can pursue Asian Studies through a major, minor, or certificate program, providing adaptable options to integrate this focus into their academic journey. The curriculum blends courses across multiple disciplines with advanced language instruction in Chinese, Hindi, Korean, or Japanese. Graduates of our program frequently qualify for competitive scholarships and global internships where they can utilize their cultural and language expertise. Situated between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., UMBC offers students exceptional access to research facilities, cultural institutions, government agencies, and other valuable resources that enhance their learning.
