The School of Computing and Information Science provides Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Science (MS) programs in Computer Science.
The PhD program is awarded to exceptional candidates who undertake an intensive curriculum and research training, culminating in the development and defense of an original dissertation in computer science.
Participants must fulfill 58 semester hours in an approved study plan: 39 hours of coursework, 18 thesis credits, and a 1-hour PhD orientation seminar.
Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive exam, develop a dissertation, and defend it. This includes both written and oral proposal presentations, followed by a final oral dissertation defense.
