Welcome to the Chemistry Department at the University of Maine. As the sole institution in Maine offering both Ph.D. and M.S. programs in chemistry, we take great pride in our academic offerings. Most of our graduate students pursue Ph.D. degrees, with all first-year students typically receiving teaching assistant positions. Surface Chemistry
This field examines chemical processes at surfaces, interfaces, and thin films. Scientists develop novel materials and investigate molecular interactions with surfaces for various applications, including catalysts and sensor technologies.
