Zoology majors explore animal biology across various levels - from cellular and tissue structures to entire organisms. They examine evolutionary processes, biodiversity contributions, and ecological relationships between species and their habitats. The field involves not just absorbing existing knowledge about animals but also developing research skills to expand scientific understanding and address challenges in medicine, agriculture, and environmental science. Graduates with zoology degrees can enter diverse fields including human and veterinary medicine, research and development, education, environmental conservation, and consulting services. While both B.S. and B.A. degrees offer comprehensive animal biology training, the B.S. incorporates more intensive mathematics, chemistry, and physics coursework, making it the preferred choice for most students. This program specifically prepares graduates for healthcare professions, advanced zoology studies, or technical careers. The B.A. degree emphasizes social sciences and humanities, ideal for students pursuing dual majors or international studies. Zoology B.S. students can specialize in Pre-Medical Studies, while both B.A. and B.S. candidates may focus on Ecology. Additionally, all zoology students have the option to minor in Neuroscience.
