The program provides four specialization options: Horticultural Business, designed to equip students for entrepreneurial opportunities in horticulture. Participants in this track can pursue a Business Administration minor and optionally extend their studies by one year to earn an MBA. Landscape Design merges creative design with plant science education. Sustainable Horticulture delves deeper into plant physiology, nutrition, classification, and cultivation techniques. Turfgrass Management prepares students for careers in turf-related horticulture, culminating in dual degrees: a B.S. in Environmental Horticulture with a Turfgrass Management focus from UMaine and an A.S. in Turfgrass Management from UMass. The Environmental Horticulture bachelor's program examines the practical science of cultivating decorative plants for various settings, including public gardens, private landscapes, and commercial growing operations. Students acquire both theoretical understanding and practical skills in areas like landscape design, sustainable plant care, greenhouse operations, plant and soil sciences, business administration, and related disciplines.
