The Chemistry Department provides academic programs culminating in Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Given chemistry's foundational role across numerous disciplines, the curriculum allows significant flexibility in elective choices, enabling students to tailor their studies to personal interests or career goals. These customized paths may include pre-medical tracks, health profession preparation, technical communication, business administration, or computational sciences. Additional guidance on personalized academic planning can be obtained from the department chair. Students pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry can select between two pathways: the standard B.S. degree or the ACS-certified B.S. degree.
The Non-certified B.S. Degree option is particularly well-suited for pre-med, pre-veterinary, pharmacy students, or those pursuing dual majors. This track offers curricular adaptability, permitting students to select complementary electives for careers in healthcare professions, environmental analysis, pharmaceutical development, or other specialized fields. The program also accommodates coursework in business administration, legal studies, computer technology, materials engineering, or other disciplines to enhance the chemistry-focused education.
