The Department of Art provides Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degrees in Studio Art. For the B.A. program, applicants simply need to apply to UMaine without extra admission criteria. Those enrolled in the B.A. can transition to the B.F.A. program starting from their fourth semester onward.
The B.F.A. in Studio Art is a specialized professional degree offering six focus areas: Drawing, Digital Media, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Cross-Disciplinary Studies. Every concentration requires 18 credits of advanced studio coursework, with the Cross-Disciplinary option enabling students to blend skills from multiple disciplines. B.F.A. candidates collaborate with their advisors to tailor their course selections within their chosen specialization.
