Zoology explores every facet of animal biology, encompassing humans along with diverse vertebrate and invertebrate species inhabiting our planet. Students in zoology examine animal functions across cellular, tissue, organ, and whole-organism levels, investigating their evolution, role in biodiversity, and interactions with each other and their ecosystems. This field involves not only mastering existing animal knowledge but also developing research skills to expand our understanding and address challenges in medicine, agriculture, and ecology. Zoology graduates can enter diverse fields including human/veterinary medicine, scientific research, education, environmental management, and private consulting. While both BS and BA degrees offer comprehensive animal biology foundations, the BS emphasizes mathematics, chemistry, and physics, appealing to most students. This track prepares graduates for healthcare careers, zoology graduate programs, or technical professions. The BA degree, meanwhile, incorporates more social sciences and humanities, ideal for double majors or globally-focused students. BS candidates can specialize in Pre-Medical Studies, while BA or BS students may choose Ecology concentrations. Both degree paths also offer Neuroscience minor options.
