An International Affairs degree equips students with valuable skills for becoming engaged citizens at both national and global levels, providing insights into the forces shaping our interconnected world and methods for strengthening international cooperation. The program features a robust, interdisciplinary approach, drawing courses from various academic departments to help students from different backgrounds incorporate global perspectives into their education and professional paths. Primary faculty for this specialization are connected to the Anthropology Department and conduct diverse internationally oriented research. These professors also maintain ties with the School of Policy and International Affairs, the Climate Change Institute, and the School of Marine Sciences. While enrolled as International Affairs majors, students focusing on Culture, Conflict, and Globalization are fully integrated into the Anthropology Department's community and receive guidance from its full-time faculty. This structure allows students to benefit from faculty connections across multiple relevant campus institutions.
Program alumni develop strong analytical abilities regarding global issues and gain proficiency in foreign languages. Degree holders pursue careers in various sectors such as diplomatic services, cultural relations, government agencies, corporate environments, non-governmental organizations, global commerce, media, legal professions, and academic teaching and research.
