The History Department provides an extensive selection of courses spanning different time periods, regions, and themes, helping students develop a deeper awareness of themselves and today's world by exposing them to diverse historical perspectives. Our curriculum spans from ancient and medieval times to the modern age, encompassing global regions and specialized topics like women's studies, environmental history, digital/spatial history, and military history. History BA graduates gain valuable skills including: analyzing historical documents and scholarly works, engaging in thoughtful discussions, writing clearly (with revision abilities), and executing comprehensive research projects. Career paths for history majors are diverse—while many pursue teaching at K-12 or higher education levels (with graduate degrees), others enter public service, working in museums, archives, government offices, or research institutions. The private sector also offers opportunities in publishing, media, business, and legal fields—indeed, history serves as excellent preparation for law school.
