The Master of Science in Educational Counseling program develops caring professionals into knowledgeable, principled, skilled counselors capable of leadership and advocacy. These counselors foster inclusive school and community settings that value diversity, support learning, and advance equity. They take a comprehensive approach to enhance educational experiences, ensuring student achievement across academic, career preparation, and personal development areas.
For greater accessibility, the MS in Educational Counseling program is offered at multiple California campuses such as La Verne, Bakersfield, Burbank, Irvine, and Santa Clarita. Classes are scheduled during evenings, late afternoons, and select weekends to accommodate working professionals, with both full-time and part-time enrollment options. The 55-71 credit program can be finished in 2 years of full-time study or 2-3.5 years for students pursuing a specialization.
Educational Counseling Career Paths

The PPS Credential track prepares graduates for public K-12 school counseling roles.
The Social Justice Higher Education (SJHE) specialization readies graduates for college student affairs positions.
The School and Family Based Counseling (SFBC) specialization leads to Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor eligibility.
The Spanish Bilingual Bicultural Counseling (SBBC) specialization trains professionals to serve Spanish-speaking populations and immigrant communities.
