The Integrated BS MS in Child Development is an accelerated five-year program (four years for BS + one year MS) offered at La Verne. This pathway prepares students for leadership roles in early childhood education across school systems and social service organizations. The undergraduate curriculum emphasizes child growth patterns and administrative competencies within family, educational, and community contexts, while graduate studies delve into neural development, cognitive processes, emotional bonding, and research methodologies.
Program admission mandates a consistent 3.0 GPA, successful completion of a writing evaluation, and an in-person interview with the department chair. Regular academic advising sessions during the initial four years ensure GPA maintenance and portfolio development compliance. Candidates not meeting accelerated program benchmarks may be guided toward the standard Child Development bachelor's track.
