The College of Engineering's Production Engineering Certificate (PEC) offers students hands-on learning opportunities, cultivates problem-solving abilities, and integrates knowledge through Lean thinking principles. The PEC program enhances student education in senior capstone design projects, fundamentals of automotive production processes, teamwork, Lean manufacturing principles, and their application in automotive production engineering. Core course design projects will originate from proposals submitted by industry partners and engineering organizations. In partnership with automotive manufacturing companies (OEMs), the PEC instructional team—composed of UK faculty and seasoned industry engineers—will choose projects addressing current engineering challenges or future technological advancements. Students will discover how to apply Lean thinking to synthesize their knowledge and successfully accomplish team objectives through effective collaboration.
